Staying by the Schoorl Dunes
The Schoorl Dunes are the highest and widest dunes in the Netherlands. From your apartment you can walk or cycle straight in, without taking the car. What you will find there:
- 1,800 hectares of dunes, woods and drifting sand
- 60 kilometres of walking trails, from short strolls to full-day hikes
- Areas where dogs may run free outside the breeding season (1 September to 1 March)
- The toughest MTB trail in the Netherlands
- The famous Klimduin at Schoorl

Schoorl and Camperduin: the best of two villages
In Schoorl you can climb the Klimduin, relax on a terrace and find shops, restaurants and bike rental. Camperduin is its quiet little sister by the sea, with the wide beach, the lagoon and the open polder. From your apartment you can easily enjoy both:
- Schoorl (Klimduin, terraces, shops): 4 km
- Beach and lagoon of Camperduin: 600 m
- Bergen (artists' village): 15 minutes by bike
- Alkmaar (cheese market, old town): 30 minutes by bike

How far is Camperduinen from Schoorl?
The centre of Schoorl is about 4 kilometres away: five minutes by car or fifteen minutes by bike, mostly along the edge of the dunes.
Can I walk straight into the Schoorl Dunes from the apartment?
Yes. The dunes start at the village; within a few minutes you are on the walking trails. You can also reach the MTB trail and the dog walking areas without a car.
