Fjoertoer Egmond: stay at Camperduinen
The Fjoertoer Egmond is a walk in the dark. You pass light beacons, artworks and performances through the Egmond villages and Heiloo, and finish along the beach in Egmond aan Zee. The event takes place on the last weekend of November. In 2026 that is Friday 27 and Saturday 28 November. The date for 2027 has not yet been announced.
You won't finish until later in the evening. That's when it's nice not to face a long drive home. From Egmond aan Zee you're back at your apartment at Camperduinen in about 22 minutes. Your dog can come along, both on the route and in Duindroom, Duingeluk or Duinroos.
The routes: light art, dunes and beach
There are four distances. All routes start at Hotel Zuiderduin in Egmond aan Zee and end with performances on the beach. You walk the last few kilometres back to the village across the sand.
- 20 km, Full Fjoertoer Experience: through the dunes, past Egmond Abbey, via Heiloo and Egmond aan den Hoef, with more than 50 artworks and performances
- 16 km: via the abbey, the polder and the Hogedijk to Egmond aan den Hoef
- 12 km: through the polder and the historic centre of Egmond aan den Hoef
- Family Fjoertoer, 6 km: through the dunes near the Bloedweg and along the boulevard to the beach
At the start you receive a cap with LED lights. Along the route there are stamp posts with refreshments, toilets and first aid. The 2026 edition is the twelfth, with the theme Fjoer World Toer. If you wish, you can donate to the KNRM (the Dutch lifeboat service) and the Egmondse Reddingsbrigade (Egmond lifeguards) when you register.
Practical: tickets, shuttle bus and parking
The organisers expect around 17,500 participants spread over two evenings. You start in a fixed start group between 4pm and 7:30pm. The finish on Boulevard Zuid is open from 7pm to 11pm. In 2026, an entry cost from €18 for the Family Fjoertoer to €34 for the 20 km. There is no waiting list, so register in good time. You can find out when registration for 2027 opens on the organiser's website.
The organisers recommend the shuttle bus. It runs from Heiloo NS station, P+R 't Baafje and Sportpaleis Alkmaar. Dogs are not allowed on the bus. If you're coming with your dog, drive from Camperduinen to Egmond aan Zee yourself and park in Egmond Zuid, on the Noord-Boulevard or elsewhere in the village. Parking there is paid on Saturday and free on Friday. Roads around the route are closed in Egmond-Binnen, Egmond aan den Hoef and Egmond aan Zee.
Stay at Camperduinen: from the lights into the quiet
After an evening among thousands of lights, Camperduinen is wonderfully quiet. Our four recently renovated apartments are on the edge of the Schoorl Dunes. Walking with friends or family? Duinbries has room for 6 people. Duindroom and Duingeluk are suitable for 4 people, with the bedrooms on the ground floor. As two or three, choose Duinroos.
Your dog is welcome in Duindroom, Duingeluk and Duinroos, up to one per apartment. Every apartment has its own enclosed terrace. During the day, walk to the beach in 10 minutes or cycle into the dunes straight from the door. Fancy something different? Schoorl, Bergen and Alkmaar are close by. That way, one evening walk becomes a whole weekend by the sea.
