Sunday 14 February 2027
Start in Schoorl
3 km, approx. 8 min by bike
10 km, 21.1 km and 30 km

The Groet uit Schoorl Run takes place every year on the second Sunday of February. On 14 February 2027 it reaches its 47th edition. You run through the woods and dunes around Schoorl, Groet and Hargen and through the old village centres of Groet, Bregtdorp and Catrijp. Choose from 10 km, a half marathon or 30 km. For children there is the Kids Run.

Camperduinen is 3 kilometres from Schoorl. On race day, Schoorl is closed to incoming car traffic. From your apartment you simply hop on your bike and you're in the village in about 8 minutes. No shuttle bus, and no hunting for a parking space.

The course: woods, dunes and three villages

The course runs through woodland and dunes managed by Staatsbosbeheer (the Dutch forestry service). On the 30 km you pass through the dunes of Schoorl, Hargen and Groet, along woodland paths and past stretches where you can see the sea beyond the dunes. The 30 km starts on the Voorweg in Schoorl and finishes on the Heereweg. Sporthal De Blinkerd is the central hub, with changing rooms and a clothing drop-off.

  • Mizuno 10 km: starts at 2:30pm, ages 13 and up, time limit 1.5 hours
  • 21.1 km: starts at 10:45am, ages 18 and up, time limit 3 hours
  • 30 km: starts at 10:45am, ages 18 and up, time limit 3.5 hours

Practical: entries, road closures and shuttle bus

Individual entries for the 10, 21.1 and 30 km are sold out. At the time of writing, you could still enter the Kids Run (€7) and the Business Run. There is no waiting list. Check the organiser's website to see whether an option to take over tickets becomes available later.

On race day, Schoorl is closed to incoming car traffic from 8:30am. Anyone arriving by car parks in Alkmaar and takes the shuttle bus (€7.50 return), or leaves the car at the bike transfer point (fietstransferium) in Schoorldam and cycles the last stretch. From Camperduinen you don't need any of that: you cycle to Schoorl in about 8 minutes.

Your race number usually arrives by post in the week of the event. You can change and drop off your bag at Sporthal De Blinkerd. Showers are limited and there are no lockers. So after the finish, you simply cycle back to your apartment to freshen up.

Stay at Camperduinen: close to the start

Camperduinen is on the Munnikenweg, on the edge of the Schoorl Dunes. So the dunes you run through on Sunday are right on your doorstep. With a running group of six, book Duinbries. Duindroom and Duingeluk are for 4 people, with the bedrooms on the ground floor. After 30 kilometres, you'll appreciate that. Duinroos suits up to 3 people.

14 February is also Valentine's Day. Running together with your partner? Then end the day in Duinroos. On Saturday, cycle into the dunes straight from the door. The beach is a 10-minute walk away, ideal for an easy recovery jog on Monday. Every apartment has its own enclosed terrace. Your dog is welcome in Duindroom, Duingeluk and Duinroos, up to one per apartment. Bergen is a 15-minute drive, Alkmaar 25 minutes.
