Kunst10daagse Bergen: stay at Camperduinen
Every October, Bergen becomes one big open-air museum for ten days. Artists open their studios, and cafés, shops, hotels, gardens and even private homes become exhibition spaces. You put together your own route and discover art in places you wouldn't normally go.
Camperduinen is a quarter of an hour's drive from Bergen. So it's easy to combine looking at art with a bracing autumn walk through the Schoorl Dunes or along the beach.
About the Kunst10daagse
The Kunst10daagse (a 10-day art festival) takes place in Bergen, Bergen aan Zee and the surrounding countryside. In 2026 more than 300 artists, galleries and young talents took part, spread across more than 130 locations. You'll see work in the most varied places, from museums and studios to private gardens.
- Catalogue: a bound book with all participants, locations and route maps. Handy for planning your day.
- Featured: a jury selects fifteen artists, who each show one work in the information centre. Visitors can vote.
- Extra programme: in 2026 this included workshops in the library and a dance performance.
The dates for 2027 have not yet been announced. Opening times and any costs vary per part of the programme, so check the organiser's website.
Practical: parking and getting around
From Camperduinen it's about a quarter of an hour's drive to Bergen. Parking in the centre is tricky at weekends. In 2026 the organisers recommended parking outside the centre, for example for free at De Kiefthoek on the Groeneweg or at the Europahal. On Saturdays and Sundays a shuttle bus ran from De Kiefthoek to the Plein in Bergen.
At weekends, a free vintage bus ran from the Plein to Bergen aan Zee. By public transport, take bus 166 from Alkmaar station. Or hop on your bike, as from the apartment you're in the dunes in no time.
If you visit on a weekday, the locations are quieter and parking is easier. You can find out on the organiser's website whether the shuttle bus will run again in 2027.
Stay at Camperduinen
After a day of looking at art, it's lovely to return to a quiet apartment. Camperduinen has four recently renovated apartments on the Munnikenweg, on the edge of the Schoorl Dunes.
- Duinroos: 3 people, ideal for an art weekend for two.
- Duindroom and Duingeluk: 4 people, with bedrooms on the ground floor.
- Duinbries: up to 6 people, for friends or family.
Every apartment has its own enclosed terrace. Your dog is welcome in Duindroom, Duingeluk and Duinroos, up to one per apartment. In autumn, the beach just a ten-minute walk away is wonderfully empty. Schoorl is 3 kilometres away, around eight minutes by bike, for a walk through the woods and over the dunes.
